FESTIVAL FRIDAY: COACHELLA HAIR DO'S AND DON'TS

Well, babes, it's that time of year again. The two-weekend annual Coachella festival starts this Friday, which means we're starting to plan our hair-tenerary (it's a thing) for three days of fabulous (and enduring) hairstyles. But planning Coachella hair means picking a style that can sustain dance moves, sweat, the blazing sun, spilled beer, and zero showers. Here are some Do's and Don'ts for picking your Coachella style.

DON'T

Rock anything with a severe middle part. Coachella is almost as notorious for its sunburns as it is for the amazing bands-- and if you've never had a sunburn on your scalp, trust us- the Indio sun is not where you want to start. Can't brush, can't wash, can't touch; a sunburn on your scalp is the closest thing to torture you could possibly feel on your head. Just don't.

Forget your Dry Shampoo. Sweating all day means lots of oils. KEEP YOU is the purse-sized dry shampoo that absorbs oils with a floral (and very Coachella) sent. Spray at the roots, leave on 1 to 2 minutes, then use fingers to shake out excess product. Proceed to field for dancing.

DO

Stick to loose and unconventional braids

If you opt to wear your locks down, messy braids are a must. Slicked back or too-tight styles are going to easily unravel through sweat and dancing, so go with imperfect and slightly pulled apart braids for a 'do that will last all day.

Or get hair up and off of your neck, like in a Glam Tuck.

Take 1 inch sections and curl as usual with a 1 and 1/4 inch curling iron.  Once everything is curled, spray with HOLD YOU for light hold and definition.  Apply flower crown or headband of your choice and tuck waves in, pinning as needed. Set again with HOLD YOU.

xx,
